September Employee of the Quarter 2022

EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER SEPTEMBER 2022 WINNERS

Congratulations to the following September 2022 Employee of the Quarter winners:

Hamilton:

Emily Mays

Emily consistently shows professionalism and grace under pressure and always makes certain a patron gets what they need, even if she personally can’t answer their question. She’s cheerful and easy-going and we’re all lucky to have her.

Oxford/Smith:

Keely Moloney – 2 nominations

What a joy it is to work with Keely! She is always kind and welcoming, a quality that is appreciated by all of our patrons and staff. She has recently taken on a large part of the grueling task of tagging the library’s collection with great proficiency and keeping the staff informed accordingly. Thank you, Keely!

Keely jumps right in to whatever project is going on. Her tagging abilities are superb! She is always friendly and helpful to patrons.

Fairfield:

Jennifer Bonnlander

Jen always, ALWAYS, leaves our building looking in better shape than when she gets here. Her attention to detail is amazing. She is a power-house Shelver and has handled a massive amount of tagging on top of shelving returns every day. And our patrons love her because she is super friendly and helpful when she is out on the floor.

LAC/BKM/TECH CENTER:

Amanda Chafin – Tech Center

Amanda is a joy to be around and always incredibly helpful! She’s made me feel like a valued member of the Tech Center and is always willing to help me as the newbie figure out how things work. She has a lot expected of her and she does it well, from live-streams to video setup to repairs with the 3D Printers. And even if it’s not something expected of her, she will go out of her way to do an amazing job anyway.

Congratulations to this quarter’s winners! Each winner will receive their choice of 4 hours of vacation or a $50 gift card.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

Hamilton

Cathy Hirsch – 2 nominations

Cathy has been a great addition to the Youth Services team at Lane. She is always thinking of ways to support families at the library, and over the summer, she developed a fantastic Early Readers program for kids. I also appreciate her help brainstorming ideas for the Ross Intermediate School Library.

Cathy is such a kind co-worker; when a new incoming co-worker who was going to be working in Children’s was due to start, Cathy cleaned out (and up) a space for her in the Mole Hole and at the Youth Desk. Cathy is always looking for ways to support and entertain young visitors to the library and she really puts a lot of thought into ways to help them through our displays, collections, toys and her programs! Thank you Cathy

Shyann Thomas

Shyann has been working incredibly hard to complete a large number of property histories that we currently have open. She has done an excellent job of keeping up on all of them and keeping coworkers informed about their progress.

Michaela Perkins

Michaela rapidly knocked out a project to convert the Jim Blount articles to PDFs. This will make the articles more user friendly for both staff and patrons who are researching a variety of topics related to Butler County history.

Oxford/Smith

Noah Mackinnon

When I was at work the day after my surgery, Noah truly stepped up and helped me so much. From doing the delivery almost entirely by himself, to lifting a box of donations I couldn’t, to helping me figure out the shredder problem. He has been amazing and I truly appreciate him.

Kevin Sequeira – won June 2022

Kevin continues to provide EXCELLENT customer service to ALL patrons who come to the reference desk for assistance.

Akiko Urayama

Akiko is my rock at work and did a phenomenal job keeping the Children’s Department up and running while I was on leave.

Emily Hicks – Smith

Emily has done a lot of excellent work recently in preparation for our annual Walking Tours and Cemetery Tours. Her work is very much appreciated.

Connie Everhart

Connie is so dedicated to her job as a shelver. No books dare be out of place when Connie is shelving! She is a joy to be around and keeps us educated in the various languages she is studying.

Fairfield

Chris Esposito – 2 nominations

There was a young child with a medical emergency in the FFB Children’s department. Chris acted promptly when the adult yelled for help, immediately dialing 911 to get medical assistance. He kept calm and was reassuring, informing necessary staff and being a positive presence and role model. Thank you Chris!

Chris is always up to help anyone including his co-workers. He has helped with programs on his off desk time and has even helped me and Sarah with teen stuff. He is great to work with and he is fantastic with patrons especially children. He’s the most patient person I’ve ever met. I have never heard him raise his voice. Also, he is one of the best people to talk to about Nintendo games.

Emma Darby

Emma is a total Reference Rockstar! She’s always so helpful and patient with the patrons, even when they have complicated requests! She always has a great attitude at work, even when she’s having bad days. Emma is a shining star in our library!

Tammy Brooks

Tammy is a creative genius when it comes to thinking up children’s programs. She puts so much thought and effort into making every event fun and memorable. The end of summer reading bash was fantastic.

Hannah Kuhn

Hannah is an excellent addition to the FFB staff, is constantly impressing me with her knowledge and kindness, and was recently promoted to full-time (which is incredibly deserved). She’s a total rock star!

April Huerta

April has shown strong leadership skills, creativity, and work ethic as always. She has made great contributions to our branch in preparing for the Hispanic Heritage Festival while also implementing summer programming for the teens are worth acknowledging. Her knowledge, creativity, and passion are a valuable part of our team.

Adam Fisher

Adam is always reliable in so many different ways making him an amazing part of our reference team. His knowledge of comics and graphic novels is incredible and always helpful to our patrons and staff. The programs he implements are always exciting, such as his always amazing escape rooms or the popular series of Dungeons and Dragons programs we’ve had over the summer, and his ability to solve technological problems is very valuable to our team.

Sarah Hedrick

Sarah’s hard work in working to make our library a great place for the teenagers should not go unnoticed. With growing partnerships in our community, a strong plan to make this school year our best yet for afterschool activities, and her great attitude I know the teens of Fairfield are in good hands.

Odalis Jimenez – won September 2021

I am constantly impressed with the dedication Odalis puts in to every thing she does for our library. She has created so many positive relationships with patrons, businesses, organizations and families. Everyone knows her and asks for her by name. You always know it is going to be a great day when you see you are scheduled to work with Odalis. I love to watch her work and see the pride she takes in her job and the library. Great work Odalis and I am so glad you are part of our team.

Jen Neborak

Jen is very knowledgeable and is the go-to person when I have a question about how to do something or what needs to be done in a certain situation. She always knows! She also will always help you if you get stuck with anything, whether it be extra check-ins, tons of hold crates, or a needy patron up front. She is sweet and a gem to work with.

Rylee Del Rio

Rylee was a Shelver with us a few years ago and recently returned to the Fairfield branch. We were super happy to have her back with us because she is an absolutely amazing Shelver. Rylee can get an amazing amount of returns shelved and still have time to get a bunch of our tagging done. It was great to get her back as the summer increase happened and we got a lot busier. With Rylee on the team, it made this summer a breeze!

Kerri Doll

Kerri is Fairfield’s worst-kept secret – her amazingness (if anyone deserves a made-up word for how fantastic they are, it’s Kerri) is unparalleled! She cheerfully makes her daily work load of paging lists, Search Ohio, shelf checks, leased book processing, and helping Circ look like a stroll through the park. And she even makes time to help with tagging, which is greatly appreciated!

Ava Epps

Ava has been a Shelver at Fairfield since January and has fit in perfectly at our branch. She is one of those Shelvers that really enjoys shelving Children’s materials (oh, so many tiny little books and spines!). Ava has also been great with helping out with programs, and getting a lot of the tagging done here at the branch. We are lucky to have her!

Emma Estridge

Emma has been a Shelver at Fairfield for a year and we are so happy about this! She is a great Shelver and is always willing to help with pulling weeding lists, or helping out with programs or any other projects that we need extra hands for. Emma has also been another super tagger for our RFID project and has helped us get so much of the tagging completed over the summer!

Connor Lewis

We lucked out when Connor applied for a Shelver position at Fairfield. He has been with us since January and quickly became one of the most enjoyable parts of our day. He is amazingly dedicated to doing a fantastic job – every shift, every day. He has great attention to detail and catches things that many of us completely miss. Connor has even spent a shift at the Tech Center, learning about what Lane offers there for the public. And he has done a crazy amount of tagging along with getting a lot of shelving time in too (and he even dances and sings a bit while he does it!).

Peter Boer Peter is one of the most patient people I have ever met. He genuinely cares about each patron and they pick up on that. Some ask for him by name! He will go to any lengths to find them what they need and make sure that they are completely happy with the amount of information he has found for them. Hi is inspiring to the rest of us.

LAC/BKM/TECH CENTER

Savannah Bryant – Tech Center

Savannah has really stepped it up in the last several months – offering some amazing programming (her stamp class was a huge hit!), doing a full inventory of the Makerspace, and helping with coverage when we need someone to step in. I especially appreciate her not only picking up sub hours on 8/17, but also doing an excellent job with an extensive walk-in 1-on-1 session with a patron involving video editing. Thank you so much for all you do, Savannah!

Tom Tierney – BKM  – 2 nominations

Tom works with our home service patrons. They sometimes give him actual titles, but usually he is given subjects or genres and he must pick titles for them. That requires a lot of searching and also knowledge of what his patrons like to read. He does well keeping track of this and deserves recognition.

I was recently in Bookmobile looking for some books for my mom. Tom was full of good suggestions, one of which has turned into her new favorite author. From the enthusiasm and knowledge he shared, I could sense that Tom is a popular advisor for our home bound clientele.

Lucy Hayes – LAC

Lucy continues to shine at Lac. She is handling more and more tasks every week. She has mastered ordering even! She does it all with a great attitude and is such a pleasure to work with that she really deserves this!
