Cathy Johnson (LAC) – November 2018 Employee of the Month

Cathy Johnson (LAC) is the November 2018 Employee of the Month

Cathy was nominated one time:

During the month of October, CJ was our Tuesday night hero. We were down a few staff members and she generously picked up Tuesday night shifts until our new employee’s start. Her great attitude, willingness to lend a hand and the fact that she always does her best made her a lovely addition to the team and we really looked forward to seeing her on Tuesdays. A great big thank you CJ!

Congratulations Cathy! She will receive her choice of a $50 gift card or 4 extra hours of vacation.

Also nominated:

Jen Tanaka, FFB
Jen Tanaka is a wonderful person to work with. She is dedicated to helping patrons and maintains a very professional, yet personable, work ethic. Jen is a role model for other Lane employees and it is an honor to be able to work with someone as kind and caring as Jen Tanaka.

Kevin Sequiera, OXB
Kevin is so helpful–volunteering to help with arranging rooms for programs, taking on extra tasks to allow fellow staff to concentrate on tutor sessions or program preps. He is fantastic in assisting with computer and printer problems. He does his utmost to learn new tasks, databases etc. so he can better find answers to tough reference questions and to assist patrons with research. In all, he is a gem and OXB is lucky to have him.

Kristen Howard,LPL
We have been doing a lot of weeding and shifting lately to whip our collections into shape, and Kristen has been a wonderful help with the process. She patiently chips away at these large work-load projects and is a great help to both me and other staff in the library.

Penny Brown, LAC (2 nominations)
Over the last few weeks, Penny transferred over 5,500 Cummins Photograph Collection files to the Portfolio system for the catalog. This dramatically improved public access by making thumbnails and higher-resolution files available. Penny sets daily challenges for herself and always meets her goals sooner than I expect.

Penny did great work helping upload the Cummins and Cella Photos to Portfolio. She created 5,000+ entries in a short period of time. Her work is very much appreciated.

Danielle White, FFB (2 nominations)
Danielle does an amazing job looking out for us at FFB as our wellness coordinator! She is awesome!

Danielle goes above and beyond as the wellness coordinator for Fairfield. She works hard to make sure that there are activities that the staff like to do and that make wellness fun!

Amanda Lehmann, LPL
Amanda is very good about reporting technical problems and suggesting improvements. When I grumble she is undeterred and takes it in good stride. I have also noticed that she is very good working with patrons.

Connie VanFrank, OXB
Connie is always keeping busy on desk whether shelving, straightening up, or helping patrons. She has a fantastic sense of humor and is fun to work with. Connie has also covered some of my story times over the last few months. We all love working with her.

Sarah Hedrick, FFB
I would like to nominate Sarah because she is extremely dedicated and hardworking. I was very impressed with her ideas for how to improve the teen writing competition for the Spring. I really appreciate the creativity and enthusiasm she brings to Youth Services!

Chad Wonsik, OXB
The other day Chad was helping a patron who was looking for a particular symphony by Beethoven. We did not have it on CD but Chad found it online was able to burn a copy for the patron. I thought it was a great example of a staff member going the extra mile to meet the needs of our patrons. I saw her later in the library and asked if she had received the copy from Chad as he was looking for her. She was very appreciative and told me that her brother was very ill and that this particular symphony brought her much peace. It reminded me that we don’t always truly know how much our work really means to patrons. Thank you Chad.

Tracy Ward, LAC (2 nominations)
Tracy has been such a star in the busy time for Acquisitions! Quick POs, advising us on invoices needed, etc. We are in her debt day after day! Thanks so much!

Tracy has just been awesome this time of the year when we get close to fiscal close. She deserves a little recognition.
