EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER JUNE 2021 WINNERS

Congratulations to the following June 2021 Employee of the Quarter winners:

Hamilton:

Mollie Sweeney

Mollie has been a great member of Hamilton’s circulation team for the past few years. She is part of our team of McNaughton processors but always helps with new projects as they come up. Although she is leaving us soon to finish up her degree, she will be missed!

Fairfield:

Heidi Patterson

Heidi has been so amazing and helpful with the Lane’s Learning Center webpage. She is always willing to come out and help patrons that need more help than we can provide (not being computer experts). She gets everything done so fast! Fairfield is beyond lucky to have her!

Oxford/Smith:

Caitlin Campbell

Caitlin has done a fantastic job with two major projects: the story walk and the Conscious Child kits. Both required thoughtful communication and collaboration within our system and the community. Caitlin gives 110% to all of her programs, but these are top notch!

LAC/BKM/Tech Center:

Cathy Johsnon

Cathy is a consistent and conscientious performer in Acquisitions. She’s there to help whenever needed, with a smile and good cheer to boot. Lane is fortunate to have her on staff. She really makes a difference.

Congratulations to this quarter’s winners! Each winner will receive their choice of 4 hours of vacation or a $50 gift card.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

Hamilton:

Kristen Howard – 2 nominations

No one works harder than Kristen to find items for holds or missing lists– she’s a regular library detective, and such a sweet person to work with.

Kristen has been so helpful throughout the changes at LPL– in addition to her own duties she works on processing McNaughtons, checking in materials that came out of quarantine and put carts in order and does shelving work if she finishes her own job duties before her shift end. She’s wonderful!

Alex Scales

Alex has worked very hard to ensure that Cummins Room requests are answered completely and efficiently. He has also done an excellent job with assisting other staff with research, gathering newspapers for microfilming, and working with the collection of the Cummins Room.

Sara Stapf

She always goes above and beyond what is necessary of her. Any question I have I know she’ll have the answer for it.

Jennifer Albinus

Jennifer has worked tirelessly to maintain the Lane Seed Library at Hamilton. She always has a calm demeanor and welcome smile for patrons and staff alike. Most recently, she helped hand out Seed Starter Bags to the community at the Hamilton Flea in early May. She also has processed many seed donations, assisted with a pollinator program, and continues to be a welcome source of gardening information for those at the Hamilton branch.

Tess Catlin

Tess always has so much on her plate here at LPL, and with her additional work making the Seed Library as popular as it’s become she is one busy lady! Tess has many projects and programs that she is continuously working on, and truly it is her doing that the Seed Library is flourishing. Patrons can’t get enough of those seeds! Thank you, Tess, for all of your hard work, day in and day out. You are very appreciated!

Fairfield:

Savannah Usher

Savannah’s helpfulness is felt whenever you interact with her. She has a cheerful personality that radiates positivity to those around her. When she is able she is seen assisting her fellow staff with various tasks and always does a great job helping patrons.

Pam Giuliano

Pam is always positive and is always a pleasure to work with. That good attitude has been great during tough times this past year. Her stellar work deserves praise!

Oxford/Smith:

Akiko Urayama, OXB

Akiko has always been a stellar coworker but she’s really outdone herself these last few months as she’s been working tirelessly in all departments. I am especially grateful for her willingness to temporarily take over teen duties.

LAC/BKM/Tech Center:

Penny Brown, LAC

Search Ohio is an integral part of acquiring materials for the Lane Libraries that we can’t normally get. Penny does the job of two people getting us books, DVDs, and other AV materials for the system. A selfless job, Penny deserves a shout out!

Matthew Leffler, LAC – 2 nominations

Matthew has been a tremendous help at the Tech Center – he’s basically doing double duty as Systems and helping us out here, covering lunches, answering our weird questions, as well as “other duties as assigned.” I know I’ll be relying on him even more now that an end to COVID restrictions are in sight, since we’ll need to purchase some new computers and gear for the new Tech Center, and I’m grateful that he’s still so willing to help out even though I’m sure he’s sick of us all by now.

Even though he is in Systems, now, and is doing an excellent job in that role, Matt still goes above and beyond to assist us here at the Tech Center. He washes windows, upgrades machines, and covers lunches for his fellow staff members. He deserves a lot of recognition for quietly taking on so many duties in addition to his systemwide role. Thanks so much, Matt!

John Taggart, LAC

John was so helpful when I filmed him for our Behind the Scenes video about deliveries. I had an idea of what his job entailed, but I also had no idea. I was in awe of all of the work he does every day. I’m not saying that John is Superman, but I am saying that I’ve never seen John and Superman in the same room at the same time…

Holly Claxton, BKM

Holly was so helpful for our Behind the Scenes video of the Bookmobile. She gave me a tour with different fun-facts about BKM and its workroom. The video would not have been nearly as good without her information. Thank you for taking time out of your day to help me out!

Margaret Winstead, LAC

I needed to take a video of someone putting a mylar cover on a book for our Behind the Scenes videos. And I kind of grabbed Margaret, who was a huge champ! Margaret, I don’t care what anyone else says–your book-covering abilities are top notch! Thank you SO much for helping me out! And being the best cataloger ever!

Amanda Chafin, Tech Center

Amanda is a wealth of knowledge! She was such a huge help with our Behind the Scenes video series. She gave me great resources for editing software and stock music to use. I can’t say thank you enough! I would’ve been walking around blind without her.
