Goodbye OverDrive app

OverDrive has announced that at the end of April 2023, they are shutting down the OverDrive app and requiring all users to use the Libby app.

The OverDrive app has already been removed from the app stores (except Amazon’s), but for those who still have it installed on their devices, it will stop connecting to OverDrive’s servers after the cutoff. A lot more patrons are using the OverDrive app than you might expect. If you don’t use the Libby app yourself, you can get an idea of what things look like and how to get around through the virtual training listed below, or by logging into the web app in your computer or phone browser.

The one exception to this is for Kindle Fire tablets. Amazon has yet to accept Libby into their app store, so the OverDrive app will remain available to those users until further notice. Kindle Fire users who are really looking forward to trying out Libby can actually sideload the app manually following these steps.
