Kaitlynn Carroll (Smith Library) – November 2017 Employee of the Month

Kaitlynn Carroll (Smith Library) is the November 2017 Employee of the Month. Valerie Elliott nominated Kaitlynn and wrote:

Kaitlynn Carroll has been on the Smith Library staff for only a few months, but she has learned her new duties so quickly that she has found time to suggest several improvements. For the current periodicals display rack, she re-arranged the sequence by titles instead of by subjects, printed labels for each section, and designed a way to attach the labels. To improve the appearance of the reference desk, she took responsibility for finding and ordering an organizer that helps the staff keep better track of incoming information requests and at the same time, minimizes clutter. She also took the initiative to experiment with repairing some scrapbooks. And that’s probably just the beginning, because Kaitlynn has lots of great ideas!

Congratulations, Kaitlynn! She wins her choice of 4 extra hours of vacation or a $50 gift certificate.

Also nominated:
Missy Thompson (x2)
I’m nominating Missy because she’s a great coworker and friend. She is very kind and respectful to every patron who walks in. I’ve seen her go the extra mile to help out thousands of times. When I’ve been in stressful or uncomfortable situations, she’s ready and willing to assist. Also, Missy has organized, labeled and cleaned the entire front and back circ area at the Fairfield Branch. She’s truly a valuable member of the FFB team.

This past Sunday Missy was our MVP. She convinced the drive-thru holds computer that it really did want to print out the hold slips, recommended I check for a book under regular fiction when we couldn’t find the McNaughton copies, redesigned the phone # list to be more user-friendly, as well as all the regular shift craziness on a Sunday (and this was a particularly crazy Sunday). All her efforts made the day go a lot smoother and easier for all of us!

Holly Claxton
Holly is absolutely fantastic! Not only did she help me prep for a serial program, but when I had to go home sick on the night of the program kickoff, she even came over and RAN said program so I didn’t have to cancel it. Holly is nothing short of SPECTACULAR and I can’t think of anyone who deserves employee of the month more than her.

Danielle White (x2)
Danielle is AMAZING! She’s a ninja when it comes to completing her “off desk” assignments. When she puts her mind to a project, she works magic. Currently she’s planning the Holiday party. The level of her creativity and organization astounds me. I’m also very impressed with the Wellness posters she creates monthly. Thanks Danielle for all your hard work.

Danielle consistently greets patrons with a smile and provides excellent service.

Penny Brown
Penny is a consistent, goal-oriented worked who does a terrific job with Search Ohio/OhioLink.

Jennifer Bonnlander
Takes great care to keep the Fairfield shelves in order and appealing.

Trent Hart
Trent started working for the Lane not too long ago. Yet, on his second day, he saw I had a program on the website and came down to the meeting room to make sure I did not need any help, without anyone asking him or informing him about programs. Every time I see Trent he has a smile on and is already such a team player. All of the hard work and care that Trent puts into his job is already noticeable around the building and the library is benefiting greatly from having Trent on board.

Sarah Gifford (x2)
Sarah is tops when it comes to observing patrons and catching thieves, sneaky snuff users and other violators. These miscreants and disrupters can’t get by her eagle eye. While our focus is giving top service to our patrons (which Sarah also does), it is important to lasso the baddies so they do not damage the quality library experience for others.

Sarah is very helpful and attentive. Sarah noticed several books that had pages ripped out over a period of time. Thanks to Sarah’s attention to the frequency and timing of the damaged books appearance, the patron responsible was confronted and admitted to damaging the books. Thank you Sarah for providing the clues to help us find the culprit!

Colleen Bradley
Colleen has always been exceptionally helpful when a Search Ohio or OhioLink problem pops up. She will pursue an answer and let you know as soon as possible. She has helped me comb through many Search Ohio problems over the years. Thank you Colleen for all of your help.
