EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER DECEMBER 2019 WINNERS

Congratulations to the following December 2019 Employee of the Quarter Winners:

Fairfield

Chris Esposito

Chris is a great coworker! He is always ready and willing to help with a smile on his face. He has a positive attitude and the patrons (especially the kids!) really appreciate him. Chris is kind and generous with his time. He is a pleasure to work with!

Hamilton

Tess Catlin

Tess ALWAYS shows up with a smile and infinite patience for all patrons and goes above and beyond to make sure they get what they need.

Oxford

Sarah Gifford (3 nominations)

Sarah Gifford provides excellent customer service and skilled assistance to patron’s needs. The latest example was Sarah working with a mother and young child (infant) in the children’s dept. They are regular patrons who enthusiastically use our space, but also have a language barrier. I saw Sarah had found a board-book in the mother’s language and showed it to her, and then showed her the other ones we had in our collection. The mother was delighted, and immediately sat with her child and began to read to her. We’re lucky to have Sarah here!

Sarah consistently comes up with stellar programming and is always willing to go the extra mile for both coworkers and patrons.

Sarah has jumped right in from the minute she joined the library staff. She completed her MLIS in record time, plans great, well-attended programs, and continues to come up with creative program ideas. Everything from running (Lane to 5K) to building cat castles, she’s got it covered!

LAC/BKM/Tech Center

Penny Brown – LAC (2 nominations)

Because: rainbows, unicorns, and sparkles. Also Penny is a helpful, caring employee who always shows concern when answering my questions.

Penny does a fabulous job with Search Ohio. She juggles her tasks to accommodate the varying delivery schedule and volume. It’s a daunting amount of work which she dispatches every day giving great customer service!

Congratulations to this quarter’s winners! Each winner will receive their choice of 4 hours of vacation or a $50 gift card.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

Fairfield:

Tracey Jewell

She worked very hard to continue providing Toddler Time while Tammy was out. Her great attitude in Children’s makes sure everything gets done and that everything looks great! Our patrons love her and for good reason.

Sarah Hedrick

Sarah not only plans and provides programming for teens in house, she is also involved in larger community and professional activities. For example, she played a big part in planning and conducting activities in the Teen area at Books by the Banks event. Sarah also serves on the planning committee for the upcoming Take 5 conference. Among these outside activities, she does outreach programming, serves on Lane’s Teen Team, attended the YALSA conference, and is just an overall well-respected and greatly appreciated team member!

Savannah Usher

Although Savannah is not new to Fairfield, she is new to the circulation department, and we are lucky to have her! She is very efficient, kind and friendly. I was particularly impressed one day when we were short staffed and Savannah offered to stay passed her time to leave to help out. It was very kind and shows her wonderful work ethic!

April Huerta

April contributed a genius idea that will greatly reduce staff time and carpel tunnel syndrome AKA came up with a more efficient way to label discarded DVDs

Peter Bour

Peter is always on top of everything, whether at reference, circulation, or children’s. He always has a smile on his face and is willing to lend a hand. His cheerful energy is contagious, and makes a great work atmosphere!

Kerri Doll

I nominate Kerri for employee of the quarter. She is the person in charge of fulfilling holds, doing shelf checks, and processing the new books at our branch. She is amazing at her job! Whenever we have something we can’t find on the shelves, we ask Kerri. If she can’t find it nobody can! We have even given her the nickname “the book-whisperer” because she is so good at finding things. She definitely deserves recognition for all she does. FFB would be lost without her.

Hamilton:

Camille Dainton

Camille has been such an asset to the LPL team and provides great customer service to everyone. She is conscientious, a very hard worker, and attentive to patrons. Camille has done a wonderful job with the Blue Slip drawer and I know I can always depend on her if I need some help with a blue slip question. She’s a great co-worker!

Shyann Thomas

Shyann recently became a Grade 3 and has been excellent in her new position! She is a quick learner and is eager to help in any way she can. As a Grade 2 and Shelver she was always awesome with patrons, and has carried that into her new Grade 3 position. She is kind, enthusiastic and tries to keep a good attitude even when times are trying.

Michaela Perkins

Michaela has been instrumental in helping upload our collection of Ohio Historic Inventory profiles to Portfolio. She volunteered to assist the Cummins Room workers with this project and has since gone above and beyond in working towards its completion.

Oxford:

Alice Ahrens

Alice Ahrens constantly demonstrates an above and beyond concern for her coworkers. Whether it is through her giving early rides to a coworker, her long and determined work on opportunities for our branch’s health and wellness employee programs, or her cheerful willingness to assist coworkers no matter how tough the day has been. She is without a doubt a MVP of our branch and library system.

Cori Vivian

In addition to being a great overall team member, Cori constantly demonstrates how to pair a deep, curated knowledge of children’s materials with active listening of the specific needs of the patron in front of her. Always willing to help, Cori is a great resource for patrons and staff alike.

Kevin Sequeira

Kevin does a fantastic job with cultural programming.

LAC/BKM/Tech Center:

Stephanie Cueto – Tech Center

Stephanie is always willing to step up and go the extra mile at the Tech Center. She is unfailingly kind and helpful with patrons, always offers to cover lunches or after hours programs on her days off, and always runs the most popular programs like the terrarium classes and soldering art classes. In the lead up to other staffers’ programs, she always offers to help in any way needed.

Holly Claxton – BKM

Really anyone in BKM could be nominated for all their work since Donna has left the department. So lets throw some support for Holly!
