Hold Redelivery Coming Soon to the Ohio Digital Library

Hold redelivery is coming to the Ohio Digital Library (OverDrive), likely between February and April.  The recent update to Libby that includes push notifications is meant to help alert you about holds as a part of this new feature.

From our State Library Rep:

What is hold redelivery? The downside of automatic checkouts is that sometimes too many holds are available at the same time and patrons don’t have time to read all of them.  With hold redelivery, patrons will now have more control over when their holds are available.   If they don’t have time to read when their hold is ready, they can suspend it which allows the next person in line to check the title out.  When they suspend their hold, the original patron will still be first in line for the next available copy.

Patrons will get a notification when their hold is available and they can choose if they want to check it out immediately, suspend the hold (allowing the next person in line to check it out), or cancel it.  They will have 3 days to make a choice.  If they do not make one, their hold will be automatically suspended for 7 days one time.

This change will take a little bit of adjustment but I think our patrons will enjoy it after hold delivery debuts.
