EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER MARCH 2021 WINNERS

Congratulations to the following March 2021 Employee of the Quarter winners:

Hamilton:

Kenzie Rouse

Kenize has been great with helping to inspect and check in quarantine materials before shelving the items– she is always looking for extra projects to help with and always assists with the Missing and OnSearch lists. Recently she was taught how to help digitize photos for the Cummins Room and we are very grateful for all her work!

Fairfield:

Peter Bour

Peter has been the eyes and ears out in the community. He is always sending good information on resources in our area. Because of him, we’ve learned about virtual trainings and virtual job fairs, which we have passed along to patrons. He’s always willing to help out if we’re having a scheduling emergency. He’s like the Ryan Seacrest of libraries. Unlike me, he does not need any naps.

Oxford/Smith:

Emily Hicks – Smith Library

Emily has gone above and beyond with answering history requests, working on projects, and assisting patrons. She is great at her job and has been of very helpful in working with the SML collection.

LAC/BKM/Tech Ctr:

Brendan Packert – LAC– 2 nominations

Brendan has really helped his co-workers the past few months by taking on new projects and filling in when people are not at work. He does a great job with his main job too by receiving incoming new items as fast as humanly possible. Thanks for being a team player, Brendan!

Brendan has taken on a lot of extra duties recently and it has really helped a lot. It has impacted patron service, internal tracking and more. He does all this extra work with a great attitude too! Thanks Brendan!

Congratulations to this quarter’s winners! Each winner will receive their choice of 4 hours of vacation or a $50 gift card.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

Hamilton:

Sara Stapf – 2 nominations

Sara is a very helpful person. She is always quick to reply to emails with answers or information to help me do my job. She provides great customer service to patrons but also her co-workers and it does not go unnoticed.

Sara is one of the most efficient people at LPL. She gets tasks done quickly and correctly, and when she finishes one, she immediately starts checking to make sure nothing else needs done. She’s always helping the shelvers open quarantine bags and check in materials and making sure everyone is on the same page. She is also a great example of a professional attitude and is always willing to share her knowledge.

Alyssa Childs

Multiple times this year Alyssa has been our only Librarian on staff and has worked hard to cover all the different programming, especially during maternity/paternity leaves this past fall. She goes above and beyond for the Lane!

Kristen Howard

Kristen not only works hard but brings a hilarious energy to the Hamilton Branch. Plus she never turns down a new task.

Jennifer Albinus

Jennifer is such a hardworking employee. She is up and moving all the time, helping patrons, changing quarantine bags, taking items to and from the DTM and the Meeting Room. You can tell that she cares about her work and our patrons. She was tapped to help Tess Catlin with the Seed Library in the fall of 2020 and has done a wonderful and thorough job with that task as well. Jennifer is personable, friendly, always willing to lend a hand or pick up a shift, and we are lucky to have her as a colleague and friend!

Fairfield:

Adam Fisher

I observed Adam’s interaction with a particularly lengthy and difficult technical problem for an older patron. Adam never lost his cool. He remained polite and patient while trying to assist this patron and talk to another IT specialist on the patron’s speaker phone. By going step by step, he was able to help resolve the problem and made sure all steps were written down. Hopefully, this will help the patron moving forward.

Michelle Marcus

Michelle’s great attitude is always a pleasure to be around. I am always impressed by what she can accomplish when she gets to utilize her endless creativity. She is a valuable asset to our team.

Jennifer Bonnlander

Jen is a shelving machine! She has been so helpful to staff, especially when we need a little extra help pulling the holds list. We appreciate you so much!

Laura Barnette

Laura has been so awesome with weeding out gross materials. She’s always checking different sections to make sure that they look good for our patrons. Our non-fiction section, specifically, would look disgusting without her efforts.

Michelle Marcus

Michelle is awesome with patrons and staff alike. She is always willing to help and go that extra step. She will take extra time to make sure that a patron has exactly what they are looking for. She has been known to go out into the stacks to hunt something down when the patron is unsure where that would be located. She always has a smile on her face (which you can still see in her eyes with the mask on) and a happy greeting on her lips. We are lucky to have her hear at Fairfield!

Oxford/Smith:

Akiko Urayama – Oxford Branch

Akiko is so pleasant to be around. She is friendly and efficient with patron requests. She is keeping busy with virtual story times, assembling craft kids, coming up with great program ideas, and she has taken on teen responsibilities. She always has a smile on her face.

LAC/BKM/Tech Ctr:

Margaret Winstead – LAC

Margaret is our Lone Cataloger in Technical Services and has taken on a number of added tasks, such as managing SirsiDynix eRC (managing electronic records), processing permanent McNaughtons and compiling new reports in BlueCloud Analytics. Her keen problem-solving skills are evident each quarter.

Connie Yeager – LAC

Connie consistently and quietly processes almost everything that comes through Technical Services. Recently, I was surprised and delighted to discover that she will on occasion use well-justified profanity. For that reason, along with the quantity of work she does each week, she is worthy of this nomination.

Penny Brown – LAC

For always being very helpful with Search Ohio issues

Matt Leffler – LAC

Matt always steps up to help us out at the Tech Center. Just today, he went well above and beyond his job description, repainting a part of the wall that had been revealed to be the wrong color after new bathroom signs went up. Whenever he is here, even when he is working on his system-level duties, he is unfailingly kind and helpful to patrons and staff alike. We at Lane are so lucky to have Matt on our team. I really think the place would fall apart without him!
