June Employee of the Quarter 2023

Congratulations to the following June 2023 Employee of the Quarter winners:

Hamilton:

Cas Rogers – 2 nominations

Cas always goes out of their way to help patrons with many difficult situations. I have seen them so many times go above and beyond to make a patrons day great. They are also a great co-worker that has an infectious positive energy that makes the days better every time they come in.

Starting up LPL chapter of Teen LGBTQIA+ Group; passionate and excited to help support teens and give them a positive support group to have fun with; working so hard to get all of their training sessions done in order to launch the group!

Fairfield:

Jen Neborak

Jen is always so aware of what is happening around her. She is ready to jump in and help find an elusive book, demonstrate the new checkout system or help locate an item for a patron or coworker. She does all this with kindness and humility. Jen is a great coworker and member of the Fairfield team!

Oxford/Smith:

Connie Van Frank – 2 nominations

Connie is one of the most dependable, enthusiastic people I’ve ever worked with. I know I can always count on her for help around the Children’s Department.

Connie is so energetic. She gets things taken care of in a flash. She is a joy to work with.

BKM/LAC/Tech Center:

Mike Busam – BKM

In our department’s most chaotic season (mass book returns from all the schools at once), Mike has really gone above and beyond! He’s been coordinating stressful pickups and running extra deliveries, and it’s very much appreciated.

Congratulations to this quarter’s winners! Each winner will receive their choice of 4 hours of vacation or a $50 gift card.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

Hamilton:

Wendy Pittman

Wendy is an asset to the Hamilton branch. She is always so pleasant to be around and handles every situation with a calm confidence. Most recently, Wendy has begun assisting the Hamilton Lane Seed Library in packaging seeds, assisting patrons and writing growing guides. Her love of gardening and growing comes through every time she assists a patron with the seed library.

Bernadette (Bernie) Miranda – won December 2022

Bernie has a positive attitude and energy that lights up anytime she walks in the library. She assists with the Hamilton Lane Seed Library in packaging seeds, growing plants in the grow unit and even programming. This month, she assisted with the Family Flower Growing program and stretched her skills by reading children’s books and helping plant flowers in pots. Referred to as our “plant mama,” there is nothing she is afraid to try growing and she is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to plants. We are lucky to have her.

Jennifer Albinus – 3 nominations

Nobody has greater attention to detail than Jennifer. If there’s a book that’s been mislabeled or a tag that hasn’t been written, she’ll be the one to catch it. Her thoroughness is appreciated by both patrons and her co-workers.

Wealth of knowledge; excellent strategist for issues and problems, so involved with the Hamilton community and helps other staff with this; works so hard on Seed Library tasks and history requests

Jennifer has been assisting with the Hamilton Lane Seed Library for three years now. This spring, we have grown many seeds from the seed library in our grow unit behind the reference desk. Jennifer has helped to plan, plant and care for these plants. She also helped to map out the raised beds that will serve as permanent home for many of these plants. Jennifer brings not only experience but a willingness to learn and teach others about gardening, plants and working with seeds.

Kenzie Rouse

Kenzie was just promoted to a Public Service Assistant and we are so excited to have her in the circulation department!

Morgan Abrams

For May the Fourth, Morgan made Wookie bookmarks and our patrons LOVED them. Ever since then, she has made weekly themed bookmarks and they have been a hit

Fairfield:

Michelle Marcus

Are you a patron who needs a patient, knowledgeable assistant to help you? Are you a team member who is overworked and stressed? Are you needing someone to lend a helping hand or a kind listener? You have found your person in Michelle. She definitely has all the qualities of an exemplary worker who deserves Employee of the Quarter!

Emma Darby

Emma is a fantastic employee here at FFB. She was recently apart of the medical emergency and played a huge part in making sure EMS got here to help the woman. She is so kind and helpful and is just a complete pleasure to be around.

Oxford:

Jackie Berberich

Jackie is a friendly and helpful member of the Ref team at OXB. She is always ready to lend a helping hand and worked until 12 a.m. two nights for the MU Finals week. Jackie offers excellent programs and helps to make our branch visually appealing with beautiful bulletin boards. Thank you for all that you do for Oxford patrons.

Taylor Maddox – 2 nominations

Taylor very quickly learned the ropes of circulation and has become a steadfast member of our team. She takes the initiative on small (yet valuable) projects that others overlook, like carefully rewriting titles on our Launchpads to keep them looking fresh. She does a great job of explaining policies so patrons fully understand them. There are probably better examples I could give if I remembered, but the point is Taylor is an amazing, responsible, and sensible presence in circulation. We are lucky to have her!

Taylor is always ready to help our patrons…helping with checkouts, answering questions, providing assistance in locating an item, printing, copying or faxing.

Sue Brooks

Sue is bright and bubbly all of the time. She happily goes about all Circulation tasks with a smile on her face. She goes above and beyond.

Anne Wright

Anne can spot a book out of order from across the room! She is very precise in her shelving procedures. Nothing out of line escapes her.

BKM/LAC/Tech Center:

Virginia Phelps – LAC – 2 nominations

Virginia and I discovered an a little account discrepancy that I thought was no big deal. Virginia went ahead and fixed the whole thing and that will really help with the budgets going forward. This is just one example the countless times she goes above and beyond! Thank you so much!

Virginia always goes over and above when helping to select and order supplies.

Matt Leffler – LAC

Matt is always quick to respond with knowledgeable, helpful information. He really seems to care about making sure everyone is taken care of and all of our questions are answered.
