Kristen Howard (Hamilton), August 2017 Employee of the Month

Kristen Howard (Hamilton Shelver) is the August 2017 Employee of the Month.  Emmy Piatt nominated Kristen and wrote:

Kristen always does a great job, but in the absence of a few Shelvers she has been great in keeping the returned materials in check. She always has a friendly and positive attitude and is a great employee and co-worker.

Congratulations Kristen! She wins a $25 gift certificate.

Also nominated:
Sarah Gifford – Sarah is always hard at work and eager to complete any task. She is always ready to jump in and help patrons or other staff with any problems. This month specifically though, she deserves a nomination for cleaning up vomit…no one wants to do that, so I believe any coworker gets a pat on the back for dealing with ugly surprises!

Adam Fisher – Adam is always willing to help with anything I ask! When I pitched the idea for a program that would run every Friday all summer long, he jumped right in and created, planned, and led half of the sessions. Builder’s Club would not have been such a success without him!

Alex Scales – Alex always takes the time to make sure our patrons have excellent customer service. He is very patient and well-liked by some of our most challenging patrons, both on the phone and in-person. Always pleasant and willing to help his co-workers, Alex is an asset to our branch, to our patrons, and to the Lane Library system. He is also great at keeping our work spaces clean and neat!

Jen Umbstead – Jen is very knowledgeable with circulation procedures. She is always the person other staff go to if they have a question. She is very helpful, friendly, and hardworking.

Michael Barrows – Michael is a great asset to Fairfield. He is hardworking and friendly. If a patron is in need of help he is very capable of helping them.

Wendy Pittman – Wendy speaks Spanish and recently she was able to help me with a Spanish speaking parent that came to storytime. She was willing to assist at storytime so she could help me reach out to the parent and she even drafted a letter giving the date and time information. Wendy is such an asset to us at Hamilton. Thanks Wendy!

Tamara Brooks – Tammy has been super helpful with all my questions in the absence of a children’s librarian at my branch. She has given me guidance to help me with programs and planning and I really appreciate it. A+ Tammy!

Keely Moloney – Keely is the “Jack of all trades” being able to perform in all departments. She volunteers to help with many needed projects everywhere and she works hard to find interesting projects for the teens–a challenging group to satisfy.

Mary Carroll – Mary is an extremely hard worker. She is always willing to help out, no matter how busy she is. I believe Mary should be Employee of the Month because she’s been extremely helpful to our patrons and her coworkers during the renovations. For example, working outside for hours in the drive thru, promoting materials so patrons can browse outside, relaying requests by patrons and communicating patron’s needs to other staff members. She’s excellent at multitasking and willing to take any extra steps to making every task work smoothly. She’s always kind, positive, generous and supportive as well. Her calm demeanor continuously puts me at ease.
